During WWII, women had different roles in society considered different from the norm. Women were viewed as the caretakers and homemakers. As the war progressed, women began working outside the homes to replace the men who were fighting in the war. Women worked in factory jobs and were paid the same as the men. Women became more independent because they were part of the working force (schoolhistory.com).
